Wild Estate

Wild Estate began as a tractor shed and hay barn, already once converted before we took it on. Our brief was to extend and rework the building into a permanent home for what had previously been run out of a marquee: a restaurant and bar with a life of its own. The upper level now holds that restaurant and bar; below it, a cellar, tasting room, and flexible indoor space that can shift to suit the vineyard's needs through the seasons.

Exposed concrete, steel, and timber carry the building's material honesty: rough, working materials chosen deliberately to hold onto the site's working history rather than polish it away. Full-height glazing stacks completely open along the vineyard-facing elevation, so on a good day the building all but disappears, leaving guests with the same sense of being sheltered under open air that the marquee it replaced once gave them, just with a permanent roof over their heads.
