About
The Studio
DPRD Studio is a small architecture and design practice committed to creating residential and commercial spaces that hold their own: considered, efficient, and built to contribute meaningfully to a sustainable built environment. Every project begins as a collaboration: we work closely with our clients to shape spaces that are as usable as they are beautiful, calibrated to their needs, their budget, and the particular demands of their site.
That collaboration starts with the site itself, its light, its climate, the way people already move through it, and lets the building respond, rather than imposing a fixed idea onto every block. It's a restrained approach, favouring a small number of well-considered decisions over ornament, but it's flexible enough to move between heritage reworks, new coastal builds, and everything in between without ever losing the same underlying discipline.
Principal
Dylan Rhynd
Dylan Rhynd founded DPRD Studio in 2010, after almost a decade of architectural practice spanning single- and multi-unit residential, commercial, healthcare, and religious projects. A graduate of the Unitec School of Architecture, he brings a breadth of experience across typologies that most practices never touch within a single career.
That range is grounded in something more physical: Dylan grew up around building sites and spent his early years working on them, which gave him an instinct for construction methodology and buildability that's rare among designers who arrive at architecture from the drawing board alone. Paired with a wealth of technical detailing knowledge, it means he understands not just how a design should look, but what it actually takes to realise it.
He still enjoys working with his hands, building and making alongside designing, and that instinct shapes the studio's approach: imaginative but practical, with a genuine appreciation for the craft of building.
