Buon Tempo

Buon Tempo answers to a steep site in Onetangi, where the complexities of the land had as much say in the design as the client brief did. Exposed in-situ concrete and grey masonry block walls do the structural work of holding the site above in place, while the building they support is tuned to two things: durability, and the view.

Profiled aluminium cladding wraps a highly insulated exterior built to withstand its exposed coastal setting with minimal upkeep, while cedar panelling threads from the interior straight through to the exterior, blurring where the house ends and its decks begin. Every piece of wall and roof glazing was placed deliberately, chasing sea views on one side, and the bush-clad slope rising above on the other, so the house reads a different view depending on which way you're facing, without ever losing the sense of one continuous home built for gathering family and friends.
